The StudentSurvey.ie In Touch Dashboard

Quick guide to progress by the StudentSurvey.ie Analysis and Impact Group

The StudentSurvey.ie Analysis and Impact Group is developing resources to support institutions in analysing the results of StudentSurvey.ie and PGR StudentSurvey.ie.

At present, the StudentSurvey.ie Analysis and Impact Group are working on:

  • Expanding the impact of the StudentSurvey.ie and PGR StudentSurvey.ie results within the participating HEIs and nationally
  • Working to improve Student feedback across HEIs
  • Developing supports for the analysis of PGR StudentSurvey.ie data
  • Developing Topical Modules for future Student Surveys

The StudentSurvey.ie Analysis and Impact Group has previously also:

  • Led sessions at the Practitioners Forum 2020 and Practitioners Forum 2022.
  • Developed a suite of workshops
  • Developed a new landing page for the In Touch data visualization dashboard and many other enhancements to the In Touch dashboards (these are internal dashboards for each higher education institution and are not available publicly)

The StudentSurvey.ie Analysis and Impact Group, is composed of members from the HEA, AMLÉ, QQI, NStEP and Higher Education Institutions.

If you know of any existing resources which you believe would be helpful for staff and Students Unions in analysing the data, or have identified a gap in your capacity to do the analysis which you believe the Project Manager function could fill, please contact info@studentsurvey.ie.

Good Practice for StudentSurvey.ie ACUnits

ACUnits are variables in the student demographic data submission made by each participating institution to the survey company which delivers the survey platform and prepares the survey results. This is part of the usual preparation for StudentSurvey.ie fieldwork and this student demographic data submission is made no later than three weeks before commencement of fieldwork.

ACUnits allow institutions to apply multiple levels of organisational structure of their institution to the dataset, which facilitates easier analysis of the results and a deeper knowledge of the students who have responded to the survey.

In 2026, HEI's can access their data via the In Touch Dashboard, a Tableau-based data analysis and visualisation tool which will help you analyse the results of StudentSurvey.ie. A complete redesign of In Touch dashboards was launched to coincide with the release of the StudentSurvey.ie results in May 2023, and a new StudentSurvey.ie User Guide - The In Touch Dashboard was issued to HEIs to accompany the dashboard.

Each institution has nominated institutional "Gatekeepers" to monitor additional users on In Touch. There is flexibility around which areas of the platform a specific user can access. Access can be granted to some, or all, of the following:

  • Response rate monitoring
  • Survey preparation information
  • Preload data transfer
  • My Files (the results files)
  • The data analytics dashboard
