The StudentSurvey.ie team recently conducted a series of student-centred Focus Groups on behalf of the Review Working Group to refine the 2026 survey, and we’re excited to share the process!
To capture authentic feedback, we conducted focus group interviews with a diverse cross-section of higher education students. These sessions, held across a variety of campuses, were identified as the best way to gather insights, guided by a carefully developed study protocol.
Highlights:
· Focus Groups with students were carried out over 6 weeks to gather feedback on the questionnaire from 8 HEI's.
· Input from diverse student groups, totalling 110 student participants.
· A mix of institution types and geographical locations ensure that the sector’s diversity was represented.
This approach allowed us to hear directly from students, ensuring their voices shape the future of StudentSurvey.ie.
The focus groups received high engagement from participants and gave us helpful feedback to improve the survey from their point of view. Based on the feedback, we will incorporate revisions into the survey, recommending adjustments to the wording of specific questions to enhance readability and effectiveness.
Stay tuned for further updates as we work to enhance the student experience in Irish higher education!
