What’s new in StudentSurvey.ie 2026?
StudentSurvey.ie, for undergraduate and taught postgraduate students, will relaunch in 2026, following an extensive redesign process over the last two years.
In June 2025 the new StudentSurvey.ie for 2026 was published and circulated to higher education institutions and students’ unions.
You can find the new survey questionnaire here.
So how does StudentSurvey.ie 2026 differ from previous versions of the survey?
One of the key changes to the StudentSurvey.ie questionnaire is that it is much shorter than it used to be.
Further, we have simplified the language, making it easier to understand, and improving its accessibility.
The questions now have a greater focus on the enablers of, and barriers to, student engagement, in the context of the consensus that engagement had diminished among the students in the last couple of years.
What kinds of questions are in StudentSurvey.ie 2026?
The questions cover, amongst others:
- student accommodation
- finances and how students support themselves
- commuting
- caring responsibilities and volunteering
- in-person and online learning
- the learning environment
- college supports
- assignments, assessments and feedback
- personal development
- belonging and withdrawal
What else has changed?
Previously, questions were grouped into “indicator scores”, and due to the shortening of the survey, these are no longer in place.
When will the survey be available to fill in?
The survey will be launched in Irish higher education institutions in February and March 2026. Each institution has its own survey dates and these will follow at a later stage.
